Do you want to have your hydrogen installation inspected?

Hydrogen (H ₂) is an interesting ingredient for the energy system of the future. The Netherlands now has many hydrogen initiatives in various stages of development, and that number is growing.

What is a hydrogen installation?

Hydrogen plays a role in many scenarios with a cleaner energy supply. Hydrogen is considered to be the cleanest available fuel, since it does not produce any greenhouse gases at the combustion site.

Hydrogen installation inspection

A hydrogen installation must be legally approved (according to the Environmental Management Act > PGS 35 and the Pressure Equipment Commodities Act Decree). ECH carries out various inspections: conformity assessment, inspection before commissioning and periodic inspections. The specialist can also perform a test based on the regulations of the PGS 35. You can also have an explosion safety document prepared by a certified senior safety expert.

What does the inspection entail?

ATEX zoning;
Safety break coupling hose;
Both internal and external condition;
Earthing report;
Emergency stop operation;
Security of the installation.

When is a periodic inspection needed?

After the statutory period (four years) has expired, the installations needs to be inspected again. Both the inspection before commissioning and the periodic inspection can be combined with the inspection according to the PGS 35.

The inspectors of ECH are aware of technical details and applicable regulations concerning the Environmental Management Act, External Safety and the Publication Series on Hazardous Substances (PGS). ECH has been designated by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment as a Certification and Inspection Body (NL-CBI). ECH is also accredited by the Dutch Accreditation. View our accreditations.
