What does the PGS 13 directive entail?

A refrigeration installation or heat pump with more than 10 kg of natural refrigerant ammonia (NH₃/R717) must meet the PGS 13 directive. This is the directive for the safe use of ammonia in refrigeration installations and heat pumps. The directive sets requirements for the preparation, management and maintenance of the installation.

What does an inspection entail?

An inspection is carried out based on an extensive checklist. The following aspects are checked during the inspection:

Method of installation;
Ventilation engine room;
Operation of ammonia detection system;
Emergency stop and alarm system operation;
Personal protective equipment;
Security of the installation.

After the inspection, you receive a report and, if the findings are positive, an inspection certificate.
